CREATE FOOD ART.

Pangea, a groundbreaking new pod hotel in the heart of Whistler’s pedestrian Village, is looking to hire line cooks for its back of house team. As a cook for Pangea you’ll be responsible for preparing a range of delicious dishes from an innovative menu, maintaining the very highest standards of food hygiene, presentation and quality. You’re someone who knows your way around a kitchen, whether by instinct or experience. You’re passionate about food and have an appreciation for creative presentation. And whether you’ve worked in a commercial kitchen before or not, you’re someone who takes immense personal pride in the quality of your output, be it food or otherwise. Most of all, you’re a team player who can establish a great rapport with colleagues both in the kitchen and out front. Of course, a commercial kitchen can be a demanding environment (physically and emotionally), so it’s essential that you’re able to work quickly and efficiently under pressure. If you’re a person who gets a buzz out of putting the pedal to the metal, but can stay calm and composed in difficult circumstances, we want to hear from you.

ABOUT PANGEA AND OUR FLAGSHIP WHISTLER LOCATION.

The clue to our ethos is in our name. To work at Pangea is to be at the center of a global community of travellers – a place where people from all ends of the Earth and all walks of life gather to have a good time. Our aim is to be the metaphorical melting pot of Whistler – a place where our guests can relax and socialize over a coffee, craft beer or cocktail, swapping tips from the slopes and sharing stories of their adventures.

THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT AT PANGEA.

There’s nothing ordinary about our hotel (in fact it’s pretty exceptional), so why would our working environment be? Our employees are expected to have fun as well as work hard, to get to know our guests rather than just serve them, and to enjoy every day at the hotel. We want them to relish the challenges that come their way and take personal satisfaction from their achievements. We actively encourage our employees to use their initiative, be creative, and challenge the status quo – if there’s something Pangea could do differently to achieve its goals more quickly or effectively, we want our employees to do or say something about it. We expect them to be proactive, determined, and willing to pitch in. In return we offer real opportunities to progress at one of the most exciting hospitality projects in Canada (in one of the most famous mountain resorts on the planet).

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

As a cook at Pangea you’ll be preparing food in a very small but busy kitchen, ensuring orders are delivered on time and to a high standard. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic working environment, as well as keeping kitchen equipment well maintained and in good working order.

WHAT WE OFFER.

  • Top-of-the-market compensation, up to $28/hr (inclusive of cash tips)
  • Health and dental benefits after initial period
  • LMIA application and future PR sponsorship (for those who need it)
  • Season ski pass (for those staying through the winter season)
  • Staff housing in alpine
  • Flexible schedules (because you’re here to enjoy Whistler too)
  • Unique work environment
